Summer Style

Summer Style

A season is not official for me until I hear particular theme songs. Around Christmas time it is not Christmas until Mariah Carey sings about all she wants for Christmas. In the same way Will Smith's "Summertime" is an anthem for summer. I was in early elementary school when the song came out but for whatever reason, it has stood the test of time.  "Summer Time" remains a staple for the summer. A song and a vibe, summer has it's very own flow. Summer is hot, sexy, slow, free and playful. People come together. Families are traveling. Kids are running through sprinklers and eating icy treats. Naturally, nostalgia ensues when thinking of summers past. It carries memories imprinted throughout the fabric of our very being.  Summer, is marked by fashion. What are the ladies wearing? What are the hair and beauty trends? I live for the details of life! As a young girl there was a lot more discovery and play with trends. At this age, I know what works. I continue to play and experiment but within a set of standards that work with my makeup. Style only truly works if it works for you.

I am bubbling on the inside to see what fun changes are happening in fashion and beauty with every incoming season. Although at this age I proceed with caution. The dirty thirties mean your girl knows what looks good on her frame. I follow classic rules that compliment my silhouette and incorporate current trends based on what works for my body. I am much too wise to walk around in a clown suit thinking it will look good because someone "hot and trendy" started something.  My frame is an hourglass figure. I learned big loose clothing tends to sallow me up and I look like a marshmallow. Although sometimes a girl wants to wear loose garments I have learned techniques to not look like a frump. An hourglass is curved on the top, curved on the bottom and slim in the middle. This dress focuses in on my slim middle. Work with what God gave you, lol. The skirt is a pencil. Something about a pencil skirt exudes femininity. It works beautifully with an hourglass figure. The details make a difference. Something about a red nail and red lips make me feel fun and fabulous. Red says classic sexy in an old Hollywood glamour kind of way. Most importantly when I slipped this on I felt fabulous. The girl should not force the fashion to fit, the fashion was made to fit the girl. Looking forward to all the slow, sexy, fun, free and playful vibes the summer brings.
